Mayor Cam Guthrie wants society to be better.
“Too often we’re so fake,” he said in a tweet Friday morning.
“I’m tired of fake.”
He explained that “there’s something I can’t shake lately, [and] that’s the word “HOPE”.
“I’m hopeful for positive [and] lasting change. Not just in government, or businesses or institutions. But in our relationships with each other.”
His words to the city comes ahead of a planned protest scheduled for Saturday in support of the Black Lives Matter movement.
George Floyd, a black man, died after a white police officer pinned his neck under the policeman’s knee for nearly nine minutes in Minneapolis on May 25, triggering anti-racism demonstrations across the U.S. and the world.
