Electric vehicle ownership is tilted in favour of men in contrast to the even split of regular car ownership but a Guelph company wants to change that statistic.
Emerge Guelph will hold a webinar hosted by women, for women on Thursday evening starting at 7 p.m. that aims to “normalize” new and used female EV ownership.
“It appears to be a man’s world when it comes to buying EVs,” the vent description reads.
“In fact, up to 70% are purchased by men, despite typical car ownership falling along typical gender lines: 50% women and 50% men,” it adds.
“We know that more women tend to be early ‘environmental adopters’ than men. That doesn’t appear to be the case when it comes to EVs.”
Emerge said that two of the country’s leading experts on EVs will be in attendance.
CEO Cara Clairman and COO Dav Cvitkovic from Plug’nDrive will be on the webinar.
The pair will be joined by two Guelph EV owners, Shirley Hunt and Lisa MacTaggart, who will share their local EV experiences.
It will be hosted by local organizer Indu Arora.
Those interested in attending can register for free on Eventbrite.
